Types of Lingerie....which one are you?

There are many styles of lingerie on the market today. Each has it's purpose and many women may have several types in her drawer depending on the design of her clothes to meet the needs for that day. Here are some of the more common types of lingerie available today:

The Babydoll
This is a short, sometimes sleeveless and loose fitting piece made of sheer or translucent material. It's used mostly as a nightgown and sometimes includes a matching pair of underwear or loose fitting skirt short in length usually between the belly button and the upper thigh.

The Teddy
The teddy (sometimes called a camiknicker) is a single piece garment that covers the torso and crotch all in one.

This piece can be worn under clothing combining the function of a camisole and panties thus avoiding any visible panty line. Available in many types of materials, this can be a very sexy and visually appealing piece of lingerie to own.

The Camisole or "Cami"
The camisole is a sleeveless, loose fitting piece of lingerie that is typically made with very thin straps. It's design allows it to be worn underneath clothing to add support and a bit of sexy to the outfit. Usually made from cotton or occasionally in satin, silk and form fitting fabrics such as lycra or spandex. This lingerie is also showing up as outer wear - if you dare.

The History of Lingerie

When you got dressed this morning you probably didn’t even think about the simple ritual of covering our bodies that we go through every day. Slipping into something sexy, pretty and comfy to go underneath our clothes has become the norm for most women on a daily basis. Historically, lingerie has always had its practical purposes. Because of the very nature of underclothing, however, it being the innermost garment that intimately covers the naked body as well as being the last tactile piece of fabric that is touched before skin touches skin, there will always be a very sexual connection with our intimate appareland that goes back for centuries.
1980’s and 1990’s--Technology hits Lingerie
Cleavage became popular again in the 1980’s and women who weren’t lucky enough to be self-endowed, realized quickly that what nature didn’t do--bra technology could. The advent of the Wonderbra and other push up bras would comfortably give women what they wanted--deliciously full cleavage. Plunging necklines that were popular during these decades became very alluring with the ample cleavage and pumped up bosom line created by these fabulous bras. Padded and underwire bras became extremely popular, a trend which continues to this day.

Lingerie for your body type

I will always remember this discussion with one of my guy friends over a cup of coffee. –“I love women and I love women even more who go the extra mile to spice up a relationship even more” BUT?? –“To me nothing is more of a turn off than a woman who wears lingerie and feels uncomfortable in them.” Rules of social etiquette differ from culture to culture HOWEVER weight can be a relentless taboo topic in most. We automatically infer that “body type” refers to weight but truth be told we are ALL shaped differently. There are women like me, who are taller.. Then there are the shorter ones, more petites ones, curvier ones, athletic ones. We all want to look like that vikki secret angel sent from the heavens above to entice our man. But how do we do this? What do we flaunt and what do we flatter? Do we all just wear the same thing? We get that eventually it’s just gonna end up there on the floor but TRUST ME there is a fine line between being SHY and being out rightly UNCOMFORTABLE. Ever stood there in your lingerie getting ready to do the dirty and feeling a little conscious of how you look. This can make our experience so un-enjoyable for both our man and us. So ladies, become familiar your body type. Play around a little. Find out what WORKS for you and what doesn’t. There is way too much variety to wear something that makes you perform below your best. Never forget, confidence is EVERYTHING

Why Lingerie is important for single women?

Ok let’s be real..We all live in a world that oversells love and sex- What happens when we don’t have a handsome lover waiting to rip our clothes off? Does this make us snub our sexuality, our self interests and sit there in everlasting anticipation for that Mr. Right? As easy as it for women to get caught up in this sort of mediocrity, instead let us live by the words of Dita Von Tesse, “Lingerie is NOT about seducing men, it’s about embracing womanhood.”  Ladies, I can give you a thousand and one reasons why we should keep that sexy vibe although you may be single. Remember that thing our moms used to say about wearing good undies incase we ended up in the hospital, well that is sort of true Butttt there are more. Sexy lingerie is God’s way of apologizing for not giving us that perfect level of confidence. When you indulge in the ultimate pleasures of silk, lace and satin against your skin it makes you feel better inside and out. This emanates through a boost in your level of confidence. CONFIDENCE IS EVERYTHING! If it has been months since you have gotten some and you feel out of touch with your sensuality, TRUST me…lingerie will do the trick. One touch of a laced undie or bra and you will instantly be reminded of your erotic potencies. Think about it…who knows if TONIGHT may be your lucky night. ALWAYS remember lingerie is about YOU, having someone to share it with is just a bonus.

Lingerie is a Staple in a Healthy Relationship

We contribute to the success of our relationships.  It’s a two-way street, there’s no doubt about that.  Focusing on the relationship is an important factor in longevity.  Lingerie definitely plays an important part. Wearing something sexy underneath your clothes makes you feel sexy and confident.  Your partner will definitely appreciate it and you can use it to entice them and be flirty.  When you sleep, wear nice, sexy things.  Don’t wear baggy flannel pyjamas or cover up completely.  Although wearing his t-shirt can be sexy sometimes, don’t make a habit of it.  Wear camisoles, silk or satin negligees or nighties, things with lace or a sexy pattern … all these things speak volumes to your partner.  It tells them that you are attractive and you find them attractive and that they are important to you.  You might think this is backwards or that your partner should want and love you regardless of what you have underneath your clothes.  You’re right, they should love and want you at your best and worst, but give them a reason to WANT you, make them drool and keep the spark alive.  Give them something to look forward to.  Keep those extra special pieces for special occasions, but wearing a matching bra and panty set each day and incorporating lace and other sexy materials and styles into your daily routine is a must.  Granny undies not allowed!  Believe me, it will do wonders for your confidence and your relationship.
